SST Manufacturing LLC (“SST”) is the parent company of Houston Custom Foam, and is a federal firearms licensee (“FFL”) in Houston, TX. We accept incoming firearms shipments for local transfer.
It is now very common to buy a firearm online. You must still have the firearm transferred to you by a local FFL. After you buy your firearm and pay for it, the seller will want to know where you want it shipped. Call or email SST with the pertinent information about your order, including your name and contact information, the seller’s name and contact information, the auction or sales order number, and a brief description of the item. My FFL information is already on file with a lot of the larger online sellers, like Gunbroker.com, Cheaper Than Dirt, Grab A Gun, Palmetto State Armory, and others. If your seller does not already have it, I will email it to them and copy you.
I will notify you when it arrives, and when you come by, bring a valid Texas Driver License, cash or credit card, and if you have one, your Concealed Handgun License (“CHL”) or License to Carry (“LTC”). If you have a CHL/LTC, the fee is $25, if you do not, the fee is $35.
After you have paid the transfer fee, you are required to complete a BATFE Firearm Transaction Record, commonly called a Form 4473. If you have a CHL/LTC, no National Instant Criminal Background Check (“NICS”) is required. If you do not have one, a NICS check is initiated online or by phone, hence the extra fee. If approved immediately, the transfer is complete, and you take possession of your firearm.
Occasionally, a transfer is delayed by NICS, and the transfer will be approved within 5 days. In the rare case that the transfer is denied, the buyer is responsible for returning the firearm to the seller.
SST also sells firearms, ammunition, and accessories online, strictly in accordance with Federal, State, and Local laws. There are several things that you must do to complete the sale.
Verify that the product you wish to purchase from SST meets your state, county, or city firearm laws. This is constantly changing, and it is up to the buyer to make sure of the current laws. Once you have completed your firearm purchase online, you will receive an order confirmation e-mail. If you do not receive an email order status update within two business days after placing your order, call us.
Contact a local FFL, and tell them you would like to have SST ship them your firearm for transfer. Have your FFL email, or mail a file copy of their FFL to us. This transaction is solely between you and your local FFL. Please make sure to include your name and order number on any correspondence that you send us.
When you go to pick up your firearm at your FFL, inspect it to make certain that everything is acceptable before filling out the necessary paperwork. Once the transfer of the firearm is complete, the manufacturer’s warranty is then in effect and from that point on, any issues or problems with the firearm will be handled by the manufacturer. If your transfer is denied, you must pay for the return shipping plus a 20% restocking charge, which will be deducted from your refund.
